2015-16 Greater Vancouver Youth saxophone Ensemble

2015 was the start of the Greater Vancouver Youth saxophone Ensemble (GVYSE) with 5 members. The second concert they performed as a group was at the WSC - aka Wayland Sports swim club's annual awards ceremony. The students learned a lot in the past half year and gained new knowledge and experience playing together in a small chamber group versing individual lessons and school concert/jazz band. As a chamber group, they learn how to listen more to each other in terms of intonation, ensemble balance and staying in unison without a conductor or director in front of them during performances and or competitions. Highlights so far for the students:

Dec 2015 - christmas (1st) performance at Aberdeen Centre mall

February 2015 - WSC (wayland sports) swim club annual awards banquet

March 29, 2016 - 2016 CMC - Canadian Music Competition in the 15 year old chamber ensemble category.
