May is the month when students hear back to see who are awarded the highest mark medal in their instrument for their January (winter) RCM exam. Two of the studio's students:
Harry and Alan received medals for their respective exams. Harry achieved a mark of 83 in his grade 10 saxophone exam Alan achieved a mark of 92 in his grade 4 saxophone exam. Amazing work boys! Keep up the good work.
During the 2017 St George's Junior School Spring Concert & Awards night, student Andy Duan is the recipient of the most outstanding grade 7 (senior) band member. He was also the recipient of the most outstanding Grade 6 (junior) band member last year (2016). Hats off to him being a well rounded student, hard work and dedication to making music and being a helpful young man within the school band. A great way to end his junior school year before heading into senior school.
2017 national youth band tours Vancouver and Whistler with some epic repertoire. Student Harry Xie was selected out of many candidates and designated section leader playing lead alto and soprano on the tour. Part of the concert on Thursday night at Douglas College which was hosted by Kiwanis Music Festival. It was an amazing experience hearing some of the top young musicians from Canada perform on stage!
